 I’m not some twelve-year old kid on summer vacation or a retiree with way too much time on his hands. I’m a full-time, full-family, full- well, I’m just full! In the grand size of this game, one thing has probably become very clear to you: you will be spending many minutes a day simply running around, flying around, riding around, and galloping around (and did I mention running around?). I don’t even want to know how much time I’ve spent on my highest-level characters just on transportation. This is where a guide can be very helpful. My absolute favorite thing about using Joana’s Horde Guide is the efficiency of it. The guy who wrote it has made many level 60 characters in record time (4 days and 20 hours to be exact) so he lists exactly where you need to go, how you need to do it, and most importantly, the best ways to get around. Trust me when I say that nothing will get you to level 70 faster than knowing the best ways to get from point A to point B without backtracking all over Blizzard’s green earth.

Speaking of backtracking, have you ever started a new character in the same area that you’ve done before, only to not even remember how to do some of the quests you’ve completed once, twice, or more? I’m no spring chicken and maybe memory really is the first thing to go, but I don’t want to “explore” things that I’ve already explored. If I want to try playing a Blood Elf Priest and I’ve already played a Blood Elf Rogue, I can pick up Joana’s Horde Guide and get my new character leveled up ultra fast by sidestepping my exploring side and instantly gratifying my must-get-one-more-level side.

That one-more-level feeling is what makes World of Warcraft so addictive. Likewise, sometimes the feeling of hopelessness in reaching your next level is what makes a guide like Joana’s Horde Guide so necessary.  Last week we started to get into the motivation of the gamer. We discussed challenge and its ugly stepsister competition, two of the most common motivators. Today, we look at two more on the way to forming an overall model for what moves us.

Perhaps less common than the first two motivators, creativity is nonetheless an important driving force in the gamer psyche. Though at first gaming doesn’t seem like a particularly creative act, what with its formalized rules and structured systems, there is much more room for self expression than one might think. Some games play to this directly through unique presentations or artistic themes. Music games and many of the Sim titles are basically just expressive outlets that happen to be governed by a computerized system of rules. Other creatives find their outlet in multiplayer gaming. The modern MMORPG sports equipment and decorative combinations numbering well into the millions. The Creatively Motivated gamer takes pleasure in designing how their character looks as well as changing how they interact with their environment. Creatively Motivated gamers thrive when outlets are available. Anything involving a high degree of expression, decoration, or a large abstract component draws them. They wilt in gaming environments governed purely by numbers, and in those where presentation is extremely homogeneous.

Though we sometimes don’t like to admit it, escapism is a motivation that lives in the heart of every gamer. By design, a game creates an inherently different world. Even games which have as one of their primary goals simulation of some aspect of the real world recast the player into some role they find more exciting than their own. Escaping into the role of adventurer, pilot, quarterback or even zookeeper provides motivation for nearly every gamer. Escapism Motivated gamers seek out games where the environment is rich, comprehensive, real. They thrive in worlds where suspension of disbelief is high, where they can lose themselves in the depth and complexity available to them. They gravitate toward role playing and simulation, environments where the world is rich and believable. They tend to avoid abstract games where the underlying reality is difficult to believe or understand. It is a strange sort of paradox that MMORPGS, with their incredibly deep histories and expansive worlds, are not as attractive to Escapism Motivated gamers as pure RPGs. This effect arises from the multiplayer aspect. Players talking in a public channel about out of game topics or, worse, about the mechanical and numerical aspects of the game world may well ruin the escapists experience and cause them to seek the company of non player characters or others who share their motivation.

Much has been made of the downside of escapism. A gamer who spends too much time in a world not their own can begin to lose touch. This sort of disassociation with reality can, and has, lead to all sorts of problems with work, school and personal relations. This does not mean, however, that escapism is itself an unhealthy thing. It is a basic part of the human experience. The reason we vacation, watch moves, enjoy sporting events or go camping is inherently escapist. As people, we are often unsatisfied with out lot in life. It’s natural to seek out activities that allow us to experience something outside of our day to day. Gaming is no different. However, as gamers, we are an oft misunderstood community. We owe it to ourselves and to the world at large both to fight with information, by spreading the positive realities of gaming and gamer culture, and to fight internally against obsession. No matter how good a substitute for the real world a game may seem it is, in the end, only a pastime. Leave it once in a while.

They include such things as the appropriate use of magic, tracking opponents and beasts on maps, launching missles at opponents, and creating portals so you can move yourself out of harm’s way.

Women have been contributing greatly in the world of entertainment. For without them, it would have been a boring reel life and real life. As the saying goes, In every mans success, there is always a woman behind and the entertainment world wont be successful enough without them. The likes of Julia Roberts, Demi Moore, Angelina Jolie, Madonna, Rihanna, Beyonce Knowles, Janet Jackson, name it, all these women are as powerful as men or maybe, we can say, they are more powerful than men because they have the money, the looks and the power to bring any man on his knees.

But according to the survey conducted, crimes committed against women, such as rape or sexual assault, have risen due to many movies showing violence against women and sexy music videos. According to some psychologists as well, that men get the idea of raping and torturing women from the movies they see such as Wrong Turn, Captive, and other movies that show violence against women. It was even suggested that women should stop appearing in such violent flicks. But will it stop or lessen these crimes against women? Maybe, yes and maybe, no. Maybe, authorities are missing the point that movies only mirror whats happening in the world. Although there is violence against women in movies or sexy actresses and music talents in music videos dancing provocatively in their skimpy dresses, it would be unfair to say that these triggered rape, sexual assault and other crimes of violence against women. It only means that perpetrators have a deeper reason for doing such and these crimes are often caused by an abnormal emot

ion or a violent frame of mind.

The film and music entertainment industry may have some negative effects to some viewers but these negative effects wont overshadow its many benefits. Besides, it can never be denied that women have always proven their importance in any sector of different societies, in any country or territory. Women have the right to be protected but not to point of shutting them out from the entertainment scene. Entertainment businesses need women as much as most of us need women in our lives because women simply make the world of men go round.

 Originally Khokhloma wood tableware were produced in monasteries and for the czar court only. At that time Khokhloma tableware production was not large scale. In 1916 Nizhegorodskoye Zemstvo established the first School for Wood-Working Arts and Crafts in Semyonov. The folk arts and folklore flourished in Volga region near Nizhny Novgorod province. No other territory in Russia could equal it in the number and originality of the folk arts and crafts that had sprang to life and were developed in the local communities. The Khokhloma art painting on wooden tableware is the type of Nizhny Novgorod folk art craft that became most popular in Russia and foreign countries.

The “grass-leaves” decorative ornaments and their peculiar color scheme suggest that the Khokhloma art is rooted in the ancient Russian decorative culture while the imitation of gilt ornaments on wood dates back to the medieval Russian handicraft skills. The painting technique has been somewhat upgraded but remains essentially the same as in the ancient time.

Khokhloma russian painting amazes you with its delicate grass pattern and festive coloring, which is based on combination of scarlet cinnabar and flittering gold against the black lacquer background. This is Khokhloma specific feature. Masters used tin powder and lacquer to obtain such gold color. Now they use aluminum powder.

First, the art tableware are shaped on a lathe from the dried lime wood, which are turned into bowls, vases, mugs, dishes and spoons.

They are dried and covered with red and brown primer, so that they start looking like earthen. The unpainted articles are now coated with drying oil. Next they are polished with powdered aluminium. They become dull shining, like silver, and go to the painting division. Painted articles are then varnished and hardened in ovens at the temperature of 120-130 degrees. The heat turns the varnish yellow, the “silver” into “gold” and mellows the vivid design with an even, golden tone.

The Khokhloma dishes, cups and wooden drink pots were used for serving food at holiday feasts. The wooden tableware using at the Moscow house of an important statesman had to look valuable; accordingly, they were modeled on the rich painted plates decorated with real golden fabricated by the jewelers for the luxurious homes of the Russian nobility. Thanks to the special varnish and high-temperature processing they are quite practical and safe in use. You can drink and eat using these Khokhloma tableware, because such wares not sensitive to cold and hot, salty and sour food.

How to Varnish (movie trailer downloads) an Oil Painting

 Varnish is more than simply a layer to protect your oil painting from ultraviolet light, pollution in the atmosphere and abrasion. It will also bring out the brilliance in colors, making them sparkle. Varnish is made from Damar resin dissolved in a mixture of turpentine and other organic solvents. Keep in mind that oil paint dries from the outside in; when it dries, it forms a surface skin first. During the drying process small pores form in this surface skin. The surface of the paint may feel dry, but under the skin, the paint is still wet, no matter how thin the coating is. It takes at least 6 months drying time for the dried oil paint film to become dry enough that it won’t be re-dissolved by mild solvents such as turpentine. When a varnish is applied to a reproduction art oil-on-canvas painting before the 6 month drying time, the varnish fills the pores of the oil paint film, The solvent content of the varnish can easily re-dissolve the incompletely dried oil paint at the bottom of the canvas and cause all kinds of problems - such as wrinkling of the oil paint film, cracking, and yellowing of the color.

Clean the painting so it’s free from dust and dirt. Lay the oil painting flat, then dampen the surface a bit of cotton wool with clean water.

Dry the oil painting with another bit of cotton wool. With your fingers, gently remove any cotton fibers that have been caught in the oil paint.

Leave your painting to dry for several hours.

Choose from high gloss, satin or matte finishes. Varnishes may be brushed or sprayed on. Use a flat bristle brush to apply the varnish. If you don’t want your oil-on-canvas painting to be too shiny, use a matt varnish rather than a gloss one.

With the painting flat, work from the top to the bottom, applying the varnish in parallel strokes from one edge of the oil painting to the other. Always work in the same direction. Try to have the same amount of varnish on the brush for each stroke so you put equal amounts of varnish on all parts of the oil painting. Always varnish the whole of the oil-on-canvas painting in one go.

When the first coat of varnish is dry, apply a second coat at right angles to the first. This will give you a good, even finish.

Leave the painting flat for at least 10 minutes after you’ve finished varnishing to stop the varnish running down the oil painting. Then prop it up against a wall to dry, face inwards.

To test whether the varnish is dry or not, touch the edge of the oil painting to see if it’s still tacky. It should dry within a day or two, depending on the weather.
